I guess the lens send digital signature to the body which record it in

Photo Laboratory can then translate this info into a lens name.

Proof '(more or less): Adobe can't do the same. It never recognizes
lenses but Photo laboratory will recognize the lens with the same PEF
file.

That's interesting. Looking over a random selection of my PEFs with PS CS2 and ACR 3.3, some lens names

* show up in the PEF in Bridge when you select it (the 43, 31, 77 LTDs, the FAs and the F85 soft, Sigma 20/1.8). * don't show up in the PEF in Bridge, but appear when you convert the raw and look in the File info (DA40). Once you convert them the lens name stays in the PSD exif. * show up inconsistently in the PEF (the M50/f4 macro shows up as "A Series lens" and "K,M Lens" in the same series of shots)
* don't show up at all (some Sigma lenses)

I think this might be worthy of some further investigation.
