Very interesting discussion, really.

Are the ink cartridges priced about the same for low-end and high-end ?

The cartridges for the Epson 4800 are very expensive. The thing holds 8 carts, each one costing either (Canadian) ~$75.00 or ~$110.00. The less expensive cart holds 110ml of ink, the more expensive one holds 220ml of ink.
The have a lot of capacity for the money.

If you move up to the big machines, you also get much lower operationg
costs.
It costs me somewhere around 3 dollars a foot to make 16 inch wide prints.
It seems to me it was costing me close to double that on my small Epson.
