You're correct of course. The bogus messages ~can~ be traced back to the 
sender(s) [or yourself], but ~I~ would have to initiate the search by filing 
a formal complaint. The perpetrators have enough sophistication to own (or 
sign up for), bogus (mostly free) email addresses which of course can be used 
one time and then never again. 

The juveniles involved will tire of their childish pranks soon enough. I'm 
just sorry so many have invested time either having to read the trash or 
having to set up filters to avoid the by now hundreds of post on the thread 
in question.
