I've never seen the point to power zoom in a still camera. It's useful in video cameras because zooming while framing during a shot is part of the syntax of motion capture. In a still camera, I want direct manual control of the focal length for best responsiveness.
The power couplings, however, could power in-lens focus servos as easily as a power zoom servo. So they could build a body with the PZ power couplings that operated both types of lenses.
Replacement of the mechanical aperture coupling with a servo-driven system has been done and done very well already. It lends greater accuracy and reliability to the system.
