The E-1 is as good, the E-300 probably about the same as the DL. I'm a big viewfinder bigot, and I found them as acceptable a subframe viewfinder as I've seen. The E-500 was just too small (unfortunately, as it was otherwise a nicer camera than the E-300)

My standard is the istD/Ds viewfinders though, which are good but
already quite small themselves.

The E-500's viewfinder is tiny, but reasonably bright. The E-1 and E-300
viewfinders are better than most APS-C sized bodies. I was playing with
the Oly's on monday, and found the viewfinders to be quite acceptable,
which is somthing I can't say for the Rebels or the D50/D70/D100.

The big problem with 4/3 SLRs is that the format is so small that the
viewfinders are tiny and unusable. I prefer the 3:2 aspect ratio also,
but that's personal preference and is moot given enough resolution.

Now, if someone made a 4/3 rangefinder with a viewfinder up to Leica
or Cosina standards, that would be something.

(the Epson RD-1 is way too expensive)

Hi!

Given the fact that 4/3 system has many adaptors, it will be rather
possible to mount limited pentax glass on leica branded body with
olympus mount.

I say it is quite swell...
