Why ask only Rob.Ask all the photogs, that uses Canons or Kodak kameras with larger sensors!The anser is of cource better resolution with less limitations, caused by the lens resolutuin.
And if you are an Canon lens user, those nice pillowy soft corners are a definite bonus if you choose the short focal length lenses.
