I got one of these for xmas (thanks to a very nice friend), and it's definitely faster than my normal pcmcia card reader, allowing me to dump a gig in about 2-3 minutes instead of 10-15.
However, it's a little tricky to seat properly in the laptop's slot. It also required me to install its software to run it, which means that it will probably only work on my laptop.
