John how could the Hole in the Wall have gone downhill?!!!!!! I remember (just) going there after seeing Count Basie at the Festival Hall in 1975, or thereabouts, and a bunch of us getting mighty smashed in a bar that was more like a barn! Great night though.

It would indeed.  Many a pint of Young's Special, and quite
a few of their cooking bitter, found it's way down my throat.
One of the good places for it was the Hole In The Wall down
near Waterloo station - I wonder if it's still operating?
(Pause for a quick Google)  Yes - it would appear so,
although it sounds as though it's gone downhill nowadays.
