I got up a little too late yesterday to see it. The photo shown was obviously done with the camera on a tracking mount. I would expect that it would be possible to use a stationary mount and take many more/much shorter exposures and stack/register them to avoid star trails.
I'm going to attempt it tomorrow AM. Tom C.
