The connector is a normal 2.5 mm stereo jack plug. I connected such a jack plug to my Z1 cable release which is a excellent switch. The biggest problem is finding a 2.5 mm jack plug which is small enough to fit the istD. The normal jack plugs are too thick around the plastic part of the connector (not the metal connector itself which is 2.5 mm).
