BTW, I would be VERY interested in those kind of scripts (I know
nothing about perl etc.).
I'll most probably host it on my web site (or sourceforge or
somewhere...) once it's a bit documented and useable by anyone but me.
For now it's not really the case.
If you know a slight bit in programming or are ready to learn, such
script languages are really powerful as a "glue" between applications,
allowing them to work together and better suit your needs.
MacOS scripting system is really easy to use.
Perl is very powerful, but more tailored to command-line tools
integration, and a bit cryptic (even for programmers).
Python is quite easy to learn and understand, but versatile, and a
pleasure for programmers. Can be used with kids at primary school, to do
the kind of things we're discussing now, or to develop full-blown web
application servers...
