As far as I understand, you don't have a way, within the system, to make an offer, given the fact that the auction has ended. The only thing you know is that the seller is under no obligation to sell the item, if you want to play through the system I guess you could send a message to the seller with an offer but tell him that you want the use ebay to complete the transaction and that he/she could repost the item with a "buy it now" price that matchs your offer. Just an idea; hope that helps.
