So does many zoom lenses - more or less accurate.
I recently became a happy owner of an excellent example of this briliant
lens.
Is there some kind of modern (AF) version of this lens, anbody?

Hi Rob,

Hope all is well.

I managed to buy a pretty good "user" sample of the 35-105
yesterday. The measurements are the same as those taken by Jens:
1mm (approx 1/32" and 1/2) at 35mm and 11mm (3/8" and 1/2 - is
it correct to say it this way?) at 105mm.

A side note: this one appear to keep the focus when changing
focal lenght (at least, when you set the focus at 105, which is
definitely more accurate, and zoom back to 35mm). For a brief
period, not long ago, I had a mint 35-105 sample that did lose
the focus setting when changing the focal lenght, no matter
which way I tried to set it.

Ciao,

Gianfranco
