Thanks all, for the replies. I'll have to try it again tonight. Hopefully it was the -20c wind chill slowing down my brain cells sufficiently that I couldn't think clearly enough to get it to work yesterday.
(it made no sense to me why it would not function the same as the shutter release on the body either). dk
