I've had my *ist D out skiing and all of the sudden it would not
auto-focus anymore. This was with the FA 31/1.8. It would occasionaly
hunt, but most time it would appear to not even attempt to AF. I switched
lenses and it appeared to be OK, but 15 minutes later I had the same
problem.
The D-FA lenses don't work quite the same way as the FA lenses. I do have
concerns about cold weather usability with them, mitigated by the fact that
my cold weather performance is now so abysmal that it's very unlikely that I
will ever use a camera outside in cold weather again.
