A few weeks ago I posted a query about digital alternatives to the
Kodachrome look. A couple of you had the most ingenious suggestion:
Why not shoot Kodachrome? So I did. The first roll came back today.
(Scans later. Lucky you.) It was dropped off early last week at the
pharmacy with "PROCESS K-14!!!" written in the special instructions
box. Price wise, it totalled about half what it would have been if I
had sent it to Dwayne's myself.

The lab technician was fairly knowledgeable and told me that any
push/pull instructions would result in the roll being returned with a
note stating that the service is unavailable. This means that if I
ever need push or pull processing I would have to send the film
directly to Dwayne's. Otherwise, the returned slides were exactly as
described at http://www.dwaynesphoto.com/ (cardboard mounts, dated and
numbered, in a plastic case). Might anyone be able to shed some light
on any differences in quality between dealing with Dwayne's directly
vs. dropping the film off locally? Other than push/pull processing,
and maybe turn around time, is there any benefit to going straight to
the source?

Thanks for your time.
