Shel, Have you ever just considered using a handheld organizer like a Palm or some such. They are designed to be a bit easier to use than the MS stuff. It comes with desktop software that works just like your handheld and syncs back and forth. One problem with a desktop only solution is that when you are away from your pc you can't check and update your schedule - so you go to the doctor's office, need to make an appointment - can't check the schedule.
I think that is why there is not much available. Either you use something like Outlook to synchronize an entire office or you use something like a Palm to handle your own use. Me, I have used Palms all along and they work great. I am considering something like Godfrey has - the Treo phone - gives you one device for phone and organizer with synching to the desktop. The handheld approach is truly worth investigating.
