Several years ago we had a note here from a retired Nikon rep in the Washington, DC
area (yes, a Pentax user!). He commented that some of his clients complained about
dust in new lenses delivered from the factory. He eventually sent some back for Nikon
service to clean. He could see no difference in results and the lenses quickly had
dust in them again. He thought it was a fact of life.
I don't like to see dust specs. I am more worried when I see black flakes from the
interior light baffels of the lens housing. But what I don't like is a uniform
coating of dust particles looking back at me when I look at the interior surfaces. 1
or 2 particles, or even 10 or 15, are no big deal!
..Unless you are really picky like Shel. <g>
