I will most likely do that Tom.:-)

One other thing to think about, the Epson uses the same printhead for all printing, so changing back and forth between color inks and B&W is going to require a very through printhead cleaning. In fact being as the printers are so cheap it might be better (more econonical) to use separate printers for B&W and color.

Thanks for that input Ken.
I was looking for something that could do B&W better than the S800 Canon, and for the price, this one seems to fit the bill.

Althought its not to say i won't do colour with it.

Its the same up here. Printer is worth the cartridges.:-)

I just purchased one a few weeks ago. Very happy with it. Mostly B+W printing with a few color images, all with Epson inks. I bought it hoping it would at least be as good as my Epson Stylus Photo - bought about 9 years ago. So far the 4"X6" prints I've done with it are better. I have prints from my Stylus Photo that are 9 years old and are impossible to tell from newly print images from the R220 - framed & hanging on walls. All with original Epson inks.

Interesting, if you go to replace all the ink cartridges at once it will cost just slightly less than a complete printer (which includes the all ink cartridges). Something like $99 for a new R220 & $80 for all the cartridges at a local Comp USA store near me. I buy my inks on line for substantially less.

Subject: Epson R220. Anyone using for sales prints

After private emails with Fred, i'v pretty much talked myself into trying an Epson printer. The R220 seems adaqate for B&W prints with 3rd party black ink(s). More so than my Canon which displays the green tint Fred mentioned he had, and sems to have gone in the R220.

Just wondering if anyone is using this printer as a sales printer and if they are happy with it and the customers. My Canons are supposed to be 25 year archival,so i'm wondering about the R220. An articale Fred sent said 22 years.

I get faint, barely visible fine scratch ,marks on my Canon papaers(most likly from horse dirt) and i want to get a new printer, and one that does decent B&W to replace the S800.

The price is cheap, just wondering if the prints will be over time.
