I most like the color palette.
As you say it is soft. The most distracting aspect of this image for me.
Also distracting to me is the merge of the subject with the background mountain line.

I think totally eliminating any detail (silhouette) in the post would improve this image - as posted it almost looks like a mistake - like you couldn't decide whether to totally eliminate the detail or make the detail more prominent.

I'm also distracted a bit by the inclusion of the body of water in the bottom. Include more or eliminate it entirely.

Overall, I like what you're attempting, keep it up
