The trouble is, once you get a lot of stuff in a system, you're a little
locked in - rather like cameras!
I used to use Organizer, and liked it a lot, but then found I had a long
contract where I had to synchronise with the client's Outlook system, so
made the switch. The advantage of Outlook, of course, is that the Journal
facility helps to keep track of what one is working on, when using Office
products.
I don't use Outlook for emails, having once had a loss of a mass of stuff
when the backup/restore failed.

I still use Lotus Organiser. Much nice than Outlook - though of course
it's not an email program.

Shel,
it doesn't require MS Office. Office is merely a name they give to a
suite
of interrelated programs, but Outlook can be run perfectly well without
the
other programs.
It may be a bigger program than you really want, but if you can, try a
demo
either by downloading or sending for their free demo, trying it in a
shop,
or perhaps asking any friend who might have a copy. I'm not sure why
John
thinks it's free, but you can buy legit 2nd-hand copies for not much
money.
