As far as I recall the 544 has a gently rounded grille, while the one
in question has a "kink" in the grille and bodywork right above it.
There used to be a lot of 544s around here, but I never saw one with
that kink so far as I remember. I wonder if it is a custom
modification or an uncommon factory variant? My current Vee-Vo is a
1991 740i Turbo wagon.
