Ahh - I found the problem. There was a menu item that had to be changed. AF mode was set to "C" which I guess means continuous. Changing it to "S" allowed the trap focus to work as it should. That might explain why yesterday, when using an autofocus lens, there was some hunting taking place in some scenes where it usually didn't do that.
