Hi Gang, Something I've been meaning to do for a while was to try a screw mount lens on the istDS. Yesterday a ST 105/2.8 was mated to the camera and I was quite pleasantly surprised. I'd forgotten how nice and smooth the lenses focused, and how small and light they are. It was a pleasure to use on the DS. What was even more surprising was how bright the finder was, even with the lens stopped down to f8.0. Quite a bit brighter than I remember the Spotmatic to be. Putting the lens on a KM or KX and comparing finders might be worthwhile. Yesterday was very grey and overcast, and it was raining heavily. Still, the view through the finder allowed for a bright image and easy focusing. Today has started out sunny and not overly bright, and should allow for more time to play with the combination, and to perhaps compare the screw mount 105 to the K105/2.8.
It might be fun to pick up a few more screw mount lenses after I see how the 105 works out. Shel
