I agree with Godfrey. I don't think it's fair to draw conclusions based on this single frame example. But having had considerable experience with both lenses, I would say that the 16-45 is a very good lens and the 12-24 is an outstanding lens. And well it should be, given its near four figure price.

Not exactly a fair test ... zooms are generally at their worst at the focal length limits and at their best in the middle of the range, here you've got the 16-45 at its wide limit and the 12-24 right in the middle of its range.

But judging by these two pictures, the 16-45 has a heck of a problem at corners and edges. The 12-24 renders much better results.
