They're just doing that: just see the K100D thread. I'm confident a
cheaper version of it (without SR) will probably meet or approach
that figure by the end of this year.
If they put SR and faster autofocus into an otherwise-like-the-DS
body (6MP and all), I'm going to jump on it! I don't need 10MP, but
I do enough low-light photography that the shake reduction would be a
wonderful thing to have.
The wife probably won't be convinced, though. (you just got that
camera 2 years ago!) I might have to build her a kitchen first. :-(
