If you can find a slide holder to sit in front of a 50mm macro lens, just set the lens to a 1:2 magnification and click away. I can do that with my copystand and flatpanel light box, but for 35mm you get MUCH better results with a Konica MInolta Scan Dual IV film scanner at 3200 ppi (13.1 Mpixels) than you do with a 6Mpixel camera. The camera is faster, however.

With a similar setup (2x teleconverter, a set of extension tubes, and the same A50/2.8 Macro lens), I photograph Minox 8x11mm negatives with the Pentax and obtain approximately a 5Mpixel image file, the equivalent of a 6000 ppi scan. For that, it's well worth it. :-)

William (and others), which slide duplicators have you found useful with the
Pentax DSLR line (or others with smaller-than-35mm sensors)? My
understanding is that it's not possible to use a standard slide duplicator on a small-sensor DSLR body because you then get vignetting of the edges of
the slide. I've found this Soligor duplicator:

(Zoom Slide Duplicator T2 for Digital SLR Cameras)
but it's unfortunately not available in the US. Suggestions welcomed!
