And there are times DSLR owners/users don't want a DSLR. There are quite a few people on this list who often use a small P&S.
One small example: I like to keep a digi on my office desk to grab shots of my cats as they frolic in the office, or to take a quick snap out the office window if something looks interesting. A DSLR is too bulky, and frankly, overkill, for the QuikSnaps I enoy taking. Such cameras are nice to carry around in the car, or in your pocket, too.
