 . . . far more complex than the explanation you give.  That's just
one viewpoint of the situation, basically casting one side as the
innocent victim, and the other side as the real cause of the problem.
That's not true, any more than is the opposing position.  But it's
used as a good enough excuse to explain why it's necessary to take
preemptive actions to defend yourself against the agressor ...
