The problem with option #1 is that there is no way to ensure what your images/photos/whathaveyou will look like on a purchaser's screen. Lenswork is doing this with their Lenswork Extra CD editions ... the user interface is only just "OK", and I luckily have a high quality monitor with proper calibration so I think I'm seeing about 50-60% of what a printed book or folio might be. But I subscribe to both the print and CD versions of the magazine ... and there's no comparison to the printed magazine.
