Hi Bob,

Perhaps you're misunderstanding SFW. It's a much finer approach to saving
than Save As. There are 100 different increments that can be used as
opposed to only 12 in PS (and, I'm guessing, Elements.) Not only can you
better fine tune the file size and quality, but you can choose to include
or exclude the ICC profiles. It's this ability to fine tune, and decide
what extra information to include, that gives the potential for smaller
files while maintaining an acceptable level of quality.

With the ICC profile stripped out, some people may not see the colors
exactly as you want them to be seen - in some cases precise color rendition
is not important, in other cases it's best to include the profiles.
Regardless, so many monitors are uncalibrated, or poorly calibrated, the
only time including an ICC profile really matters is if the viewing monitor
is properly set up. I can't begin to tell you the outrageous, and
sometimes garish, colors I've seen on my friends' monitors.

SFW will also strip out the metadata and Exif info, making the file smaller
but with no necessary decrease in quality.
