I would first try out her interest by giving her one of my own camera's. One of the lesser used, but a good starter for children, would be the (already quite vintage) Canon AF35ML. They're cheap and very basic, yet powerful. I think it was one of the first real point-and-shoot camera's, introducing auto focus.
