I think Bob's got the idea here. The people are so small in the frame that they become effectively lost in the photo. They may have interesting body language or whatever, but it's difficult to discern given the scale. I'm surprised that you mentioned the pink curb and shutters, because they're barely visible. Again, there's so little pink visible as to make it inconsequential IMHO.
