That's right.  (Except perhaps that negatives do degrade after a lot of
light exposure.)
But many who collect for pride rather than a love of the art & craft don't
know the difference.
They want what they want.  Like spoiled children they throw their money
around.
The smart photographic businessman/woman would be wise to make their living
from paying customers.
