On 4/5/06, Boris Liberman, discombobulated, unleashed:

>Fascinating. So you said in another post your were hanging out... I
>wonder how you did not scare the bird ;-).

Well, I started off standing outside looking straight up the wall but my
neck was beginning to ache and I was too lazy to go get the angle finder
out of the bag (it was a lovely warm evening and the sun's rays felt
great). The bird returned with a worm but stopped short, mad a right
royal din of a noise and retreated to a telephone wire, still
disgruntled. I thought it was pissed off with me being there, until I
noticed one of our cats sat by my feet! I invited the cat to repose
inside the house (kicked her furry little cat butt through the door) and
the bird was fine after that.

I then went upstairs and invaded my lad's room, sitting on the window
sill with a cushion for my non-furry butt, leaning out just enough to
get a good view of activities. But now I was only 4 feet away from the
nest entrance and this time I did phase the little tweeter. I had to
cower inside until she had entered the nest, pop out and pap here as she
left. I have a couple of shots of her leaving with freshly-molted downy
feathers in her gob.

I really wanted an arrival shot with the meal, so i tried to time it so
I popped out and papped her as she was just on final approach to the
wall. Third try was the charm, and to my surprise, she paused - not
unlike Catherine Zeta-Jones - and peered over at me just for a couple of
seconds as the ratatatatatat of 8 fps was going full-chat. I'm sure the
noise was making her think twice and hesitating. Anyway, she went in and
that was that. I left it there cuz I'm a big nasty bird-papper and she's
a poor little tweety and I got what I wanted and she had mouths to feed,
so I f***ed off and went to dismantle the old tattered lawnmower so I
can get a new handle for it.

It was that kind of day....

Cheers,
  Cotty
