At 90mm there is an even more obvious pincushion distortion. Apparently
there has been made a choice for being neutral or close to neutral at 24mm.
Personally I agree with that, it's more likely this focal length will be
used for architecture then 90mm. While for portraiture this distortion is
not a problem, something 90mm is useful for. Some people will disagree, I am
sure, based on there needs.

You too, and enjoy your lens for the years to come. OK, it doesn't feel like
a tank, and it is using plastic, but I don't have the feeling it is cheap.
