The MZ-S will control the aperture of lenses that lack aperture ring. It will work fine in P, and Tv modes. I don't believe it will work in Av or M.
It's such a nice camera, the MZ-S. It's a shame it wasn't released early enough in the historical timeline to avoid being overtaken by digital SLR's. I nearly bought one, and still kind of wish I had, though I know that I just wouldn't use it all that much now that I've gone digital.
