Something you can try in extreme circumstances is to heat cycle them.  Use a 
soldering iron with a tip the same diameter as the head.  Hold it on the head 
for a few seconds, remove it and add a small amount of your favouite lubricant 
to the joint between head and ring.  Repeat as necessary.

Not recommended for other than all-metal [and glass...] lenses.
