This subject came up a couple of weeks ago and I apologise if the
following was discussed and I just missed it, but...

It seems the U.S. National Park Service is going to begin collecting
fees for all commercial photography soon. This announcement came up on
April 13, and was the subject of this article:
http://www.nppa.org/news_and_events/news/2006/04/fees.html

I just learned about it while browsing through the Luminous Landscape
web site. I like Michael Reichmann's take on the matter: "Fine Art and
other non-commercial photographers should not be affected, but I've
had enough run-ins with NP staff and rangers in the past to know that
the sight of a tripod and pro level gear is going to elicit some
heated debates in the days ahead. And, if you've ever tried to argue
with a state trooper over a speeding ticket, you've already had a
dress rehearsal for how those conversations are going to go."

If this happens, immediately fire off a letter to your congressional delegation. Enought of these and the problem will go away.

Since I retired from one job last September I figured that, as a retiree, I should spend some time writting to my representatives. They are quick to respond, especially in the House.
