Brian, the duration between the pre-flash and the flash is very short
-- microseconds. If you are looking through the viewfinder you won't
notice it.
But perhaps there is a category of humanity that we should label
"speedy blinkers." I don't know.
I believe Bruce Dayton has been using the AF 400T for wedding
photography, with some exposure compensation. It's a great flash.
Do you have a D or DS? I seem to recall reading somewhere that TTL was
implemented for the D but not for the DS or DL.

The D does TTL but has major issues doing it at ISO's other than 400.
The DS does TTL and can function at other ISO's (But I'm not sure how
accurately). The DL only does P-TTL.
Auto flash requires inputting Aperture and ISO. There's no way around
this on Pentax gear.
