This was very cleverly done. I got scammed by thinking I had already been scammed. To wit:

Received a complaint thru ebay email wanting refund for something I did not sell.

Thinking I was already the victim of id theft (like the hijacked accounts the guy uses to scam the Pentax FA 300/2.8) I went to the item to see if my ebay id was on the item.

I had to log in to get to the item as usual ebay policy.

The bidding had ended and the item received no bids so there could be no buyer. The jig was up.

I reviewed the email and it directs the user to an AOL http://xxxxxhometown.aol.com/ckosimik/index.html website and not an ebay site. It can be seen but only momentarily before the fake ebay login pops up.

I immediatedly changed my ebay user id and password.

What I learned (and knew already) is never put personal information in a site that is linked to an email.
