Why the meaningless subject line? I had no idea what you were referring to until I understood that you hadn't sussed the distinction between camera power on and metering activated. Glad you've sorted it out now.
Yes, it is sometimes an annoyance that you have to power on and then separately activate the meter. However, I normally leave the power on all the time, then a touch of the shutter button awakens the camera and activates the meter simultaneously.
