I wonder if they got it? I don't blame them - I think
the 5N featured exposure bracketing and depth of field
preview - the only two features I dearly wanted that
were missing from the MZ5. I'd bet that the Japanese
dumped the remaining stock of the MZ5 on the world
market while selling the 5N in Japan.

I wish I'd had the 5N, but the MZ5 has been a great
camera for the last (omigosh) decade.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I must have got the
MZ5 late in 1996 or early in 1997. If I can get my
brother and sister in law to remember when they went
on their Africa trip, I'd know for sure! My sister in
law used the Pentax on the trip and loved the panorama
feature so much she didn't want to give up the camera.
If I had all my negs organised I'd just have to look
for the oldest panorama to find out. ;)

Did anyone get the chance to have a look at any of my
gallery pictures? The oldest ones were taken with a
Chinon CE4s. I nearly bought a Pentax ME Super back
then, but the Chinon had more features for the price
and still had a Pentax K mount. Besides, I suspect
that the Chinon was a Pentax by another name. Does a
camera with a Pentax mount count as an "almost
Pentax"? 8^D

PS I'll replace the low res digital pics with some
decent scans of Provia 100F from the MZ5. Ahh,
Provia, I love that film...
