Thanks to everyone for the comments and submission suggestions, I'll send some to them and see what happens. The clouds were photographed by many local residents and made it to the news long before I got home to process the RAW files. Perhaps I should have shot a few jpegs along with the RAW files. ;-) Here is a link with more pics and an explanation of the phenomenon:
