Roman, Remember, squinting is a reflex action to protect your eyes... glare and direct sunlight are harmful, and usually if the subject is looking toward the sun the lighting will not be as interesting anyway. any "eye exercises" that kept people from squinting when the light is bothering them would be ultimately harmful. seriously. The ironic thing is that eyes which have been opened right after being shut for a while will be prettier because the pupils will have enlarged... if you can let them keep their eyes shut for a bit and then open them only for a moment it should work, I think. and Robb's suggestion about looking into an area that is darker is good, of course.
