I've taken to reading PDML like an old stack of magazines. I keep one mail window minimized, pointing to my PDML mail folder.
Whenever I have some free time (rare nowadays) I bring it up and read a few threads. Right now, it says I've got 63,747 messages in it, 45,426 unread.
