Godfrey --- "Without Looking Before Or Behind" an exhibition by Arielle Bivas - Godfrey DiGiorgi - Vered Shomron at the Pacific Art League 668 Ramona Street Palo Alto, California www.pacificartleague.org June 30 to July 3 reception Friday, June 30 6-9 pm discussion during reception 7:30-8:30 Gallery Hours M-F 9-5, S-S 10-4 --- Camera, pencil and brush dig into hearts and histories to examine moments ... welcome to Without Looking Before Or Behind, a multi- faceted exhibit by three emerging artists. Opening Friday, June 30, and on display until Monday, July 3 at the Pacific Art League Main Gallery, the exhibit includes large format color silver-gelatin prints by Arielle Bivas, digitally rendered black & white pigment prints by Godfrey DiGiorgi, and pencil & paint works by Vered Shomron. A reception will be held Friday, June 30, 2006, from 6 to 9 pm. Arielle Bivas uses a large format view camera to create intensely colorful photographs in her series "Fluid". She explores substitutions for the body, simultaneously hiding and revealing. Godfrey DiGiorgi works in black and white using a hand held camera in "Subjects in Motion". He captures the quick and the static, posing a contrast of fleeting and static time. 'A "Tattoo" in my soul,' is how Vered Shomron describes the Star of David, which she draws and paints in an intense search for understanding and acceptance of her complex identities. A panel discussion with the artists will be held during the reception from 7:30 to 8:30 pm. Please come join us for the reception.
