I agree, and I try to avoid cliché's myself (most of the time).
But a cliché for you might be groundbreaking new material for me. I think it
depends on your and mine personal references. In other words, the pictures
you and I have seen before.

I'd also like to add that "bird on twig with catch light" is very much about
documentation. It's not meant to be mind breaking. The same goes for "mom
and granny with child drinking coffee" and a lot of cliché motifs. It is not
meant to be mind breaking. 

Personally I find pleasure in making bird photos, but hates making coffee
table pictures.
