Camera Raw v3.4 does an excellent job with hot pixels. I never noticed any difference between Camera Raw's hot pixel removal and Pentax Lab when I tested. Here's a comparison between Vuescan and Camera Raw: http://homepage.mac.com/godders/straight-NR-comp.jpg Regards a RAW conversion application that is not Adobe Camera Raw, I'm fairly impressed with "RAW Developer" by Iridiant Digital <http:// www.iridientdigital.com/products/rawdeveloper.html>. In general, dodging and burning is done after conversion. Can't say about whether some converters are better at scaling than others.
