An interesting shot. The reflections are going to be flat and deep shadows no matter what you do. It might work better in color, as you'd get more separation. Did you convert it from RAW? You might go back to the converter, bring up the shadows and pull down the highlights before conversion. The shadow/highlight tool might work well here, if you minimize the range.
